Building Update 01/30/2010

Dear Praying Friends,

We wanted to give you the latest update on our building purchase here in Rankin Inlet.  Lord willing, the closing should go through as planned on February 1.  Last week we were not sure if it was going to proceed since we were struggling to find a company who would insure the building.  Finally, yesterday afternoon, we were contacted by the insurance broker who informed us that we were able to get coverage!  Praise the Lord, and thank you to those who prayed!   We would now ask you to continue to pray that God would provide for the completion.  Also please pray that God would give us wisdom to get it completed as quickly as possible, so we can move out of our high-rent apartment unit, and high-cost church meeting room rental.

Thank you and God bless!

Dear Praying friends,

We wanted to update you on some exciting news here in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, Canada.  God has allowed us to be able to purchase the building that we have been praying about for 2 1/2 years!  We have been waiting for approval (for 4 months) on a number of *make or break* issues, and God saw fit to allow them to come to pass.  PRAISE THE LORD!!  Thank you for praying for us, and with us, about this building.  We would now ask you to PLEASE continue to pray that God would provide for the repair and completion of this building.  It is an older building that has been boarded up for a number of years, and soon after the possession date of January 31, we will begin renovations.  In the weeks ahead we will be endeavoring to determine the cost of these repairs and will be sharing with you some of the needs that we have.  Close to $5,300 has been given thus far, and we want to say a big THANK YOU to those who gave.  Please pray about the part you could have in getting this building ready to be a *lighthouse* to the lost of the Arctic.

Thank you and God bless!

Dear Pastor and Praying Friends,

As I write this letter another day in the Arctic has come to a close.  It has been a busy one as usual, filled with visitors, snowmobile rides, “visitation” at the local grocery store and post office, and a ladies Christmas party that Becky was invited to.  Each task or activity of the day, we try to take time to meet new people, or to minister to familiar friends.  We have had a few snow storms, but no major blizzards like the first couple years we have lived in Rankin Inlet.  Temperatures have dipped to about -38 C, and we are currently receiving approximately five hours of sunlight each day.  Sadly with the dark, cold, winter months comes the increase in suicide, which shattered our community twice in the month of November.  PLEASE PRAY that people will see the hope and new life that Jesus Christ has to offer.

The Christmas season can be a great time to talk to people about the Saviour that was born to die.  We have a Christmas party planned, at which we know that there will be some unsaved people.  Some seem so close to being saved, and others are still enslaved to their sin, and blinded by Satan.  PLEASE PRAY for hearts to be turned to the Saviour as we continue to minister to people here in this community.

During part of the month of November we were able to take a much needed time of rest, and visit with some family as well as introduce our newest family member, Alayna.  It was a special time to share with members of both sides of our family, and we are grateful to the Paul Hitz family for filling in for us while we were gone from town.  The Hitz family have been here 5 months now, and have truly been a help, a blessing and an encouragement!

Some of you have asked us about the building that we are trying to purchase.  The close of the sale is nearing, and we are still waiting to hear if the financing has been approved.  We should know sometime the week after Christmas.  Thank you all for praying, and PLEASE CONTINUE to pray for this.

It is hard to believe that 2009 is coming to a close and 2010 is just around the corner.  We are so VERY thankful for you, our faithful prayer and financial supporters.  Without you partnering with us we could not be here. THANK YOU, AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU THIS COMING YEAR!

In Christian Love,
